Actually, the Pope said,

authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence,

in a Papal Encyclical, no less.

I have never been embarrassed by my Faith. Only by the men who represent it. I wish Franklin Graham were a Catholic.

I know some Catholics who are proud to be Catholics because of the contrast between, say, the Pope and Graham. See (they say), the Catholic Church is more nuanced. We're not like those Islamophobic book burning Protestants who live in the swamps. We don't have sweat under our armpits. And the covers on our Paulist Press books are so tasteful.
